Milton Keynes SSP has an established, comprehensive Teacher Training Programme. MKSSP has taken a lead role in supporting Primary schools with the new National Curriculum and Ofsted's increased focus on PE, we aim to support our primary schools to provide pupils with high quality PE.

The programme aims to:

  • Raise the quality of teaching and learning in physical education (PE) and school sport by helping schools to deliver a broad, balanced and inclusive PE and school sport curriculum
  • Improve school's understanding of how they can use high quality PE and sport as a tool for whole school improvement, particularly in terms of attendance, behaviour management and attainment
  • Improve school's understanding of how they can use high quality PE and school sport to  support healthy lifestyles and physical activity
  • Encourage schools to interpret the PE programme of study in a more innovative   way, so that they better meet the needs of pupils and enhance achievement
  • Develop cross-phase continuity and support a whole school approach to improvement and raising standards
