Our Partnership

Within Milton Keynes we have 2 Schools Sport Partnerships (SSP), each hosted at secondary school hub sites, The Radcliffe School and Sir Herbert Leon Academy. Both SSP teams work collaboratively to provide schools within Milton Keynes a consistent service and opportunities for staff and all young people.

Milton Keynes School Sport Partnership (MKSSP) was established in 2004 through the government funded national PE School Sport & Club Links programme. In September 2011 MKSSP reduced in size due to government funding changes and became self-funded via a range of avenues but predominantly through its key stakeholders; Milton Keynes state schools & academies. The MKSSP is formed of 96 primary schools, 12 secondary schools and 6 special schools. Since 2011 the Partnership has gradually expanded to provide an enhanced specialist teaching service and teacher training programme and to preserve and expand the calendar of competitions and other opportunities for young people to participate in physical activity and sport.

High quality PE and sport play an important role in young people's lives. They can have a positive impact on health and wellbeing, build self-confidence, leadership skills, teamwork and competition. Sport and physical activity can also play their part in improving attainment, citizenship and community cohesion. The SSP strive to ensure that PE and school sport is well coordinated, there are a wide range of opportunities, they are inclusive and to a high standard.

To support schools in educating all pupils to be physically literate and provide them with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary for a lifelong healthy lifestyle and participation in physical activity and sport.
